AWIA (African Women in Agriculture) was formed by five women in response to the skills and knowledge gap for women in the agricultural industry. Our vision is to capacitate women’s access to agri ecosystem, driving social economic impact through disruptive virtual and physical communities. We are a non profit organisation and have been operational since 2018. We operate on a 10H piece of land in Eikenhof, South of Johannesburg located in the fertile rain belt. Our farm is on land owned by a children’s home called TLC Children’s and we have secured a 20-year lease. To date we have developed over 140 women though various programs including an agricultural Incubator and have planted 120 fruit trees, all in our farm. We currently grow and produce organic vegetables for the local market on our farm, and some is supplied to the local communities. Our strategic goal is to empower 3,000 women …
My name is Phil Chavanne and along with my wife and daughters we manage Selah Springs Ranch, an adventure retreat ranch in the Texas Hill Country. This ranch has been in our family for 26 years and it is our goal to pass it down healthier with each generation. Our vision for the property is to steward the land by establishing grasslands in previously barren soils, to greatly increase the biodiversity of the land by establishing all 66 native tree species on the ranch as well as over 25 different grass species which will in turn sequester carbon, decrease erosion, recharge our aquifers and therefore our springs, all the while providing us with the opportunity to educate our guests on the importance of conservation.
The Mcdonald Family Farm has been in my family for over 150 years. My Great Grandfather Alexander, acquired the land in the form of ‘Settlers Block’ in the 1850’s whilst he was working as a Head Stockman for a local landowners. Once he acquired the land, he continued to work for local landowners, work his land and rear 12 children. All the 12 family members lived and worked on the land throughout following years and once married, moved onto owning their own piece of paradise, except for the youngest of the 12 siblings, Donald. Born in 1894, my Grandfather Donald was the youngest of the 12 siblings. After returning home from his service in the Light Horse Brigade, and realizing that his mother could not run the family farm on her own, he decided to stay and run the farm forfeiting his dream of becoming a Police Officer. Donald eventually …
I am Matt, and with my wife Kristy along with our two young boys Oscar and Walt, moved to our farm in August 2020. It has been used for grazing and cropping over the years, and is surrounded by conventionally managed crop farms. The land is devoid of trees, and the soil is compacted and there is a lot of bare ground from being overgrazed. I have have been on a steep learning curve, in terms of regeneration agriculture, and the time has come for action, with our main focus being on increasing the soil organic content from 1% to 4% over the next 10 years. We intend to do this by using many Regen Ag techniques starting with subsoiling, and planting trees on contour lines throughout the entire property. Then introducing cattle, sheep and chickens, holistically managed in an attempt to encourage bio diversity of perennial grasses, and increase …
'Temple Farm' is a leading example of a food and fiber production property that is tackling transition to a net zero economy and climatic risk within a ecosystems preservation and enhancement context. It is a certified organic property that has undergone a major agroecological transformation over the last 40 years under McFall family stewardship to reconfigure the farming operations to advance soil health, tree culture and water management. The property was originally developed by the Davis family in the late 1920's and is located on the traditional custodial lands of the Aboriginal Noongar peoples of the South West of Western Australia. I am a 4th generation land manger following the Davis family lineage's connection to these lands. Temple Farm is approximately 1000ha and comprises a mix of nature based wetlands and unique conservation features. A dominant feature being the Carlecatup River system and buffering nature reserves. The property is located …
Saravu Farm Limited is the farm located in Kisongo - Arusha, Tanzania in East Africa with the mission to showcasing how the dairy farming can be one of the solution to regenerate the degraded land, climate change solution as we envision to plant the pastures that sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to enrich nitrates nutrients to the soil. The pastures planted are used to feed the dairy cattle which in return give organic matters which are added back to the degraded land to restore the soil fertility. We will have the tree nurseries where we grow different species of trees and pasture grass which are given free to the women around the farm to pant at their home surrounding and farms as well. Meyasi M Mollel is the Masai and owner of the farm with the passion to conserve the ecosystem at the same time benefitting and he wish …

I am Datu Lanelio T. Sangcoan, tribal leader and founder of Tribes and Natures Defenders Inc. www.tribes-natures-defenders.org -an indigenous peoples led non profit organization base in Philippines. I have 3 children and owned 3,000 hectares land sacred forest and farm land. Our vision is to see areas of our farm that we don't use, converted to supporting trees which will improve soil stability, water and feed during times of drought, and embrace regenerative agriculture techniques to leave a healthier more productive farm for the future and health of the planet by capturing more carbon than we produce. These areas are very significant for nature, culture and wildlife connectivity. We need to regain the forest cover to save the wildlife.
We have run the farm for the last 10 years - under organic and regenerative principles. We have fenced off areas to enable better rotations and sections areas as designated sensitive sites. We producer certified organic beef, plus hops and other seasonal fruit. Erik is a passionate ecological arborist - so we are keen to replace and restore our natural landscape into these sensitive areas around the farm. We want to replace some of the landscape that was cleared before we arrived - and encourage more biodiversity, animals and bird species to our farm. We are proud of the way our land has been restored under our management. Our teenage children are all interested in the land and it has taught us a great deal as a family. We are very interested to share our journey so that others wanting to manage their landscapes better can learn from our journey.
This planting site will be reallocated to support the Remembrance of Wynn Bruce in the coming days
