We are fundraising to help pay for an upgrade of the Mapleton Memorial Park. Specifically the money will be used to purchase the plaques that will be displayed on the memorial. It is proposed that the path we intend to construct will be used to acknowledge students of the Mapleton State School that have joined one of the Services since leaving school. The aim of our project is to create an 'Interactive Ecozone'. This space will be an integral part of the future of our school with an emphasis on environmental awareness. The Ecozone will be used by many stakeholders within the school community and will provide many teaching opportunities about the sustainability of the earth, where food comes from, composting and the importance of living sustainably. The Ecozone will support a vegetable garden, native beehives, compost bins, worm farms, chicken coop and the schools' bin management system.
